I gave an oral presentation in the Gender session at the MMIRA Asia Regional Conference Tokyo 2025, held in Tokyo from November 7 to 9, 2025. Our presentation, titled “Support strategies for children in public assistance households in Japan: an explanatory sequential mixed methods study,” introduced a mixed methods study identifying the characteristics of subgroups of children aged 10–15 living in public assistance households and the types of support each subgroup needs. Although the findings have already been published in our paper （https://equityhealthj.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12939-025-02467-6）, this presentation incorporated a new discussion focusing on the perspectives of mixed methods research. I received many insightful and inspiring questions and comments from the audience, which encouraged me to continue disseminating my research using mixed methods approaches.
